Why Bayer
Social Protection and Responsibility

Life and society are dynamic, and therefore constantly changing. Sustainability and social responsibility have always been key topics in our efforts to adapt to these changes and implement any necessary restructuring measures as a company.
One aspect of our human resources policy is to ensure a high level of social protection. For example, nearly all Group employees either have statutory health insurance or can obtain company health insurance, and 69.4 percent have access to a company pension plan. The working conditions for 54 percent of our employees are governed by collective or company agreements. We continued to establish unionized employee councils in China in 2011 with the inclusion of two more Group companies. A total of nine companies there now have elected councils representing around 3,000 employees.
